Thank you to all who have donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society 2nd Collection last Sunday. The collection results were: at St. Michael's $626.00 and at St. Isidore $619.62. Here is a little information from their website concerning the Society:
"Members of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are young and old. Our members come in every shade of skin color. Some of us are wealthy, some are financially poor, but all of us are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need." The money collected will be sent to our local chapter at St. Mary's, Defiance, for use in helping the poor and needy in the surrounding area.
2010 A Family Perspective: The owner of the orchard in today’s gospel was disappointed with the fig tree and ordered it cut down. When others disappoint us today’s gospel tells us to imitate the gardener. Don’t cut them out of your life by silence or ignoring them. Rather give them more time and assistance. Families don’t give up on each other. When others reject, family accepts!
Fast and Abstinence Rules for Lent (Canons 97 & 1252): Complete abstinence from meat - all Fridays of Lent—Day of fasting is Good Friday -Abstinence is for all Catholics 14 years & older-- Fasting is for all Catholics 18 years up to 59th birthday
